THE NATIVITY of JESUS, by Giovanni Della Robbia. Little church Saint Mary of Angels altar on the left. donated by the Bartoli family of Florence. Dimensions: height m 1.90; width m. 1,92 Around the birthplace of the Redeemer, from left: S. Francis, the Virgin, S. Joseph and St. Anthony of Padua. At the center, above, the Eternal Father surrounded by five cherubs , and among the heads of the Virgin and St. Joseph, the Holy Spirit. Twelve angels, six on each side,as crown. Two angels hold a band on which we read: "Gloria in Excelsis Deo." On the upper frame there are seven cherubs and on the basis, from left to right, the figures of Bishop St. Ludovico of Toulouse, St. Jerome, the Virgin, Jesus, S. John evangelist, S. Bernardino of Siena and St. Bonaventura. On either side of the base, left, the emblem of Bartoli, and right the Holy Name of Jesus The side pillars bring garlands of fruit. |
