OUR LADY OF REFUGE, Andrea Della Robbia. Basilica, the first altar on the right Transported to the Sanctuary of La Verna in 1874 from the Chapel of Hospice of St. Onofrio in Vallesanta. Size: height m. 2,40; width m.1,84 Consists of 180 pieces. At the center of the enthroned Virgin and Child standing on her knees, St. Antony Abbot and S. Onofrio is at his right hand, while the figures to the left represent St. Mary of Egypt and St. Francis. Above, two angels holding the crown of the Madonna. On the Based a writing supported by two angels, on which reads: "Sub tuum presidium confugimus holy Dei Genetrix." The upper frame is adorned with cherubim and the six pillars festooned with side of leaves, fruits and flowers. |
